DIN number or Directors Identification Number is a unique identification number provided by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to an individual who intends to be a director of a company in India.  DIN number or Directors Identification Number of a director is a unique 8-digit number which allows a person to legally act as a Director of a company. The DIN number is granted only one time to a person and an individual acting as the Director of multiple companies does not require to obtain multiple DINs to act as a director in those companies.



Documents Required

1. Passport Size photo

2. Copy of Aadhar card

3. Copy of PAN

4. Copy of Passport, in case of foreign nationals

5. CIN/LLPIN in which the applicants wish to join



Timeline of service

Under usual circumstances, DIN is allotted to the person within 2-3 working days of filing of the form

1. Has there been any amendment in the form?

Yes, The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) vide a notification dated 1st June 2022 has issued the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Amendment Rules, 2022  to further amend the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014. According to this rule, citizens from the national of a country that shares a land border with India need security clearance from the government before they are appointed as directors on boards of Indian companies. Therefore, the applicant needs to declare if security clearance is required by him or not.
